Solid Waste Management Outlook for West Asia |
Sept. 2017 |
May 2019 |
|
|
This Outlook report will provide a positive and progressive assessment of the West Asia region as a sustainable investment opportunity. This review will examine the key waste management challenges in building up waste collection, treatment and disposal infrastructure that is robust, economically viable and environmentally sustainable across the 12 countries in the region. This data will be interpreted and analyzed to support the progression of the implementation of the necessary capacity and capability building supporting integrated waste systems, stakeholder networks, the circular economy and smart waste systems focusing on using waste as a resource and as an investment opportunity. |

Egypt State of the Environment Report (SOER) 2017 |
2017 |
2020 |
|
|
CEDARE is assisting the EEAA in developing Egypt’s State of the Environment Report (SOER) for the year 2016. State of the Environment Reporting has been largely the responsibility of governments, through departments or ministries mandated to report to parliament, government or to provide information to the public. Traditional SOER provides information on the environment and trends. This information is very useful to analyse trends in key variables of the environment. To achieve this aim, the SOE report of Egypt will be developed in line with the latest global trends of environmental reporting to ensure credibility, legitimacy, significance and salience, and wide dissemination. The State of the Environment Report (SOER) of Egypt will reflect the national priorities of Egypt that include mitigation and adaptation to climate change according to the outputs of the Paris Agreement 2015. The implicated national priorities also include the decisions and declarations of the African countries whereby Egypt is now the president of the African Ministerial Conference on the Environment (AMCEN) for the next two years assisted by the AMCEN Support Unit at the Ministry of Environment. The SOER will also highlight emerging national priority issues of integrated waste management system through the adoption and endorsement of the circular economy. |

1.1 Overall objective: The overall objectives represent the end results of the proposed project or anticipated outcome. Against this background and in the light of the existing gap in the literature, the overall objective of this project is to provide dynamic downscaled of most critical climate components over Egypt up to 2065 and 2100 using state-of-the-art climate modeling techniques. 1.2 Specific objectives: These should not exceed four SMART objectives The following are the specific objectives: To monitor and analyze the dynamics of T2m, U, V, RH, P, SLP and E over Egypt. To project T2m, U, V, RH, P, SLP and E for the four CMIP5 different scenarios over Egypt until 2100 up to 30 km spatial resolution. To project T2m, U, V, RH, P, SLP and E for the four CMIP5 different scenarios along the economically important region of Egypt up to 2100 with 4 km spatial resolution. |

Threats of sea-level rise and saltwater intrusion to Nile delta aquifer, consideration climatic flooding scenarios |
بحث أكاديمي |
May - 2017 |

جمهورية مصر العربية -مشروع قومي-الإسكندرية |
Specific objectives: • To monitor and analyze the dynamics of SLR along the Nile Delta. • To project different SLR for the four CMIP5 different future scenarios on the Natural Resource Damages (NRD) of the Nile Delta until the end of the current century. • To build up Nile Delta flooding (sea level rise effect) map. • To assess empirically the SLR impact on (accelerated) saltwater intrusion processes on Nile Delta aquifer along coastal areas, which affect groundwater aquifers and resources. NileFlood team will try to determine the boundary of saltwater intrusion. • To assess the amplitude between sea level rise and salt water intrusion in the study area. • To evaluate the effect saltwater intrusion on the quality of water used for drinking and irrigation. • To map seawater intrusion extension into the coastal aquifer. |
