                       10. Publishing and launching of the report.

            9-12 December, 2013  highlighted the Directorate’s vision towards environmental challenges and presented an overview
                       A report by the Republic of Lebanon Directorate General of Environment for the period 1999-2003


                       of its structure and administrative functions in accordance with the Law of its establishment. The
                       report briefly tackled major results and progress achieved by the Directorate during the above
                       five years in the legislative, administrative, financial, and technical fields, in addition to planning and
                       environmental guidance.

                         BOX 6B      National IEA process in North Africa (Egypt SoE Report  2010, Issued
                                     in 2011)




                       The National IEA report  2010 relied on  four major principles:


                       Principle 1: Transparency

                       All pressures on Egypt’s environment have been presented using the latest data available
                       to MSEA\EEAA in collaboration with all ministries, authorities and research centers.


                       Principle 2: Participation
                       Large  numbers of experts, researchers and  those concerned with the environment
                       participated in developing and reviewing the report. A work group comprising members
                       from the different fields and specializations was formed and several workshops were held for
                       developing the report, identifying its objectives and collecting its data. Regular meetings were
                       also held for reaching an agreement on work methodology and report structure. The report
                       has also been developed with participation from a large group of experts representing
                       the different public and  executive sectors, such as  line ministries, research institutions,
                       universities,  organizations,  NGOs,  People’s  and  Shura  Council members,  environmental
                       communication and information professionals, representatives of private  sector and
